Outstanding Alumni & Teacher Honored at GHS

The Galena High School Student Council honored an alumni and a teacher on Friday, October 12 prior to the Galena-Cherryvale football game. Individuals were chosen for having a positive impact on the lives of past and present GHS students. Mr. Troy Wade was honored as the Outstanding Alumni for the Fall semester. He has been the voice of the Bulldogs for the past two years and is a current member of the Galena Board of Education. Mr. Wade has also been a strong supporter of the Fine Arts program at GHS and is an active member of the Galena First Baptist Church.
Mr. Matt Meyr was honored as the Outstanding Teacher for the Fall semester. He has taught at GHS for the past six years. He currently teaches College Algebra/Trigonometry, Calculus, Algebra II, and an 8th grade Algebra I class. Mr. Meyr is the GHS NCA Math chair, and also serves as an assistant football coach, head girl's basketball coach, and assistant baseball coach.
The students of GHS would again like to thank these two outstanding individuals for having a positive impact on our school and community.
