GHS Honors Veterans
November 10, 2007
Students and faculty at Galena High School honored the many past
and present Veterans who have served our country and given us the
freedoms that we enjoy today. Each Veteran that attended was
partnered with an escort from the junior class to show them around
the school and to visit with throughout the morning.
Veterans Day Assembly
Army recruiter Sergeant Adrian Danels talked about the "selfless, service" and patriotism displayed by Veteran's and how much they have sacrificed to ensure our freedom. Mr. Brad Krouse, GHS American History teacher, recognized each of the Veteran's that attended the assembly and the GHS band and choir each performed patriotic songs. Students participated in a flag folding ceremony. That flag was later presented to Alan Wade. Stephen Derfelt closed out the assembly by playing "TAPS".
All Galena students would again like to extend our thanks to the many Veterans who have given us the opportunity to "sit in the desks".
