Students Participate in Wellness Program
April 07, 2008
Galena students are working on improving their fitness levels. The district Wellness Committee has developed an exercise program to help emphasize the importance of regular exercise as a lifelong activity. Each month a calendar containing daily exercises is sent home with students. These exercises are a voluntary daily fitness supplement that is to be done outside of school.
As the month progresses, students and parents keep track of the exercises and then return the calendar, signed by a parent, at the end of the month. Students who participate in each of the daily exercises are rewarded at school. Students who completed the March calendar were rewarded with a pencil.
The Galena Wellness program was put into place to encourage students to lead a physically active lifestyle both in and out of school.
