Parents As Teachers Program Information
Parents as Teachers (PAT) is a free, early childhood learning program designed to give families information to help parents teach their children before they reach an actual school classroom. The program is entirely voluntary and is open to all families, including single parents, first-time parents and expectant parents.
The PAT program consists of 1) personal visits from a parent educator, 2) group meetings, 3) developmental, health, vision, and hearing screenings, 4) playgroups, 5) a resource network, 6) subscriptions to a monthly newsletter and a parenting magazine, and 7) a resource center that contains toys, videos, and parent materials.
If you live in Galena or Riverton and would like to participate in the Parents as Teachers program, please contact Shanel Maxwell-Bullard at 620-674-2141 or the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center at 1-800-554-3412.
