Liberty Hosts Body Venture

Liberty Elementary recently hosted a "walk thru" version of the human body, known as Body Venture.  The Body Venture is broken into several different sections:  the skin, muscles, bones, lungs, heart, stomach, small intestine, mouth, tongue, and brain.  Students got to walk through each of the sections, and listen to educational information about how to keep each section healthy, including making healthy choices . . .

Liberty Students Showcase Musical Talents

Students at Liberty Elementary treated their parents, grandparents, friends, and staff members to an instrumental Spring concert recently.  The students, under the direction of Mrs. Whitney Wright, have been practicing different musical instruments this year.  This was their opportunity to showcase their talents.  Third grade students showed off their skills on the boomwackers, which are lightweight, hollow, color-coded, . . .

GHS Holds Mock Accident

Students at Galena High School were given some insight into what could happen if students text and drive on Friday, April 8.  The GHS S.A.F.E. (Seatbelts Are For Everyone) and Student Council put on a mock accident in hopes of helping students to make better decisions when they are behind the wheel.  With the help of the Galena Police Department and Fire Department, Cherokee County Sheriff's Department and Emergency . . .

Pitt State Nursing Career Day

Thirteen Galena High school juniors and seniors attended a Nursing Career Day at Pittsburg State University's School of Nursing on Thursday, March 3rd. The students were involved in different hands on activities such as taking vital signs and blood pressure, giving injections, and starting an IV, among other nursing related practices. Fifth Grade Barter Day!

Barter Day has become an exciting annual tradition for our 5th grade classes while they study the Early American Colonies. Items that are outgrown and no longer needed are brought to school, with parental permission, to trade with classmates.
