Galena Schools Earn Top Honors Based on Assessment Tests
Congratulations to the USD #499 students and staff for receiving the Standard of Excellence in Reading for their awesome performance on the Kansas State Reading Assessments in Spring, 2011. The district received the Standard of Excellence in Reading at the following levels: 5th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade. Galena Middle School and Galena High School received the Standard of Excellence in Reading building wide.
Galena High School was also awarded a Certificate of Merit for student performance on the 2011 Kansas State Math and Reading Assessments. This award recognizes schools for outstanding achievement and uncommon accomplishment based on assessment results. It is awarded by the Confidence in Kansas Public Education Task Force. This is the first time that Galena High School has received both the reading and math Certificate of Merit awards in the same year.
