GHS Book Fair
Galena High School is kicking off the school year with an “All Star” themed Book Fair at the GHS Library. The Book Fair will open on Monday, September 10 and run through Monday, September 17. Various family activities are planned throughout the Fair. Tuesday, September 11 the GHS Library will host Donuts for Super Dads from 7:30-8:30 AM. Students can bring their Dad or other significant male over the age of 18 to the Book Fair and each receive a donut. Thursday, September 13 will be Muffins for Mighty Moms. Students and their Moms or other significant female over the age of 18 can shop at the Book Fair from 7:30-8:30 AM and each receive a muffin. Grandparents are Great will be held on Friday, September 14 for middle school and high school students only. Grandparents are invited to enjoy lunch (cost is $3.15) and shop at the Book Fair with their grandkids. If an adult in your family is planning on attending, please call 620-783-4499 ext. 1406 so we can have a count as to how many extra people will be here for lunch. Students or parents that make a $10 purchase at the Book Fair prior to or on September 14 will have the opportunity to put their name into a drawing to win one of ten $10 gift certificates toward the purchase of merchandise at the fair. The drawing for this will take place on Friday, September 14 in the afternoon. The Book Fair will be open each evening until approximately 4:30.
The GHS Book Fair is also participating in the One for Books program. A competition to see which of the four principals gets a pie in the face at the All School Pep Assembly on Friday, September 21 is currently underway. The principal with the most money in his/her jar will be declared the “winner” and a student from his/her school will be chosen to “Pie the Principal.” Students can buy chances to be the pie thrower for $1 or they can just put money in a jar. This money will go into the One for Books program. This year, the money raised from the One for Books program will go toward purchasing books for the GHS Library and for adding to teacher’s libraries in their classrooms.
