Senior Girls Learn Self Defense Techniques

December 08, 2017

The Galena High School senior girls were given the opportunity to learn some self defense techniques recently to better help them prepare for life after high school.  Sergeant Stephen Harper of the Cherokee County Sheriff's department recently went through the self defense training needed to teach others how to defend themselves.  He, along with Sergeant Chris Wren, also from the sheriff's department, instructed the girls on basic ways to react if an attacker comes up behind them, attacks from the front, etc.  The girls will receive additional training throughout the school year to hopefully make them feel more confident about being able to protect themselves when they go to college and/or into the workforce.

GHS would like to give a big thank you to the Cherokee County Sheriff's department for partnering with us to teach the students how to protect themselves after they graduate.  GHS would especially like to thank Sergeants Harper and Wren, for taking time out of their busy schedules and having the patience to teach the girls the skills they may need in the future.
