Fall Homecoming Activities Slated for October 1-5

Students in USD #499 will be participating in various Homecoming activities throughout the week of October 1st-5th to help build school spirit leading up to the Homecoming game on Friday vs. the Baxter Lions.  The following dress up days have been designated:

Monday - Pajama Day

Tuesday - Camo/Lion Hunting Day

Wednesday - Character Day - dress as your favorite book, movie, or TV show character

Thursday - Geek/Jock Day

Friday - Blue White Day/Country Hoe-Down Day (choose either or a combination)

Also during the week, students and faculty members will be taking part in a bulletin board decorating contest.  Each class will decorate a bulletin board using the Homecoming theme, "A Little Bit Country," a Bulldog theme, or a little bit of both.  The competition will be judged on creativity, how eye-catching the bulletin board is, and on Bulldog spirit.  One class from each school will be chosen as a winner, with one overall winner receiving a gift certificate from Dairy Queen for ice cream for his/her entire class.

On Friday, October 5th, the Homecoming Day activities will be kicked off with a parade beginning at 1:15.  The parade route will follow Main Street from 3rd street down to 11th street.  Students will then walk to Abbey Football Field for an all school pep assembly, starting at approximately 1:45.

The Alumni Tent will open at 5:30 on Friday and be open through halftime of the football game.  Alumni are encouraged to come eat a free meal and signup for door prizes.  Coronation will be at 6:40 prior to the 7:00 kickoff time.  King and Queen candidates for this year are:  Seniors Weston Ward and Hannah Huffman, Juniors Dylan Anderson and Kenzie Cannady, Sophomores Jared Oglesby and Taehler Watkins, and Freshmen Jacob Waggoner and Alexandria Jordan.

The GHS Homecoming Dance will begin shortly following the end of the football game and go through 11:30 PM.  Admission to the dance will be $3 for singles and $5 for couples.  The DJ for the evening will be Diana Moss and Ashlyn Henderson will be the photographer.  The pictures will be free of charge and will be available to the students at a later date for them to print.

Homecoming activities will continue on Saturday with an Alumni Golf Tournament.  Anyone interested in participating in the golf tournament can sign up in the board office or at the Alumni Golf table set up at the Homecoming game.  The cost per team is $200.  For more information, please contact the Board Office.

USD #499 would like to invite everyone to come out to the parade, pep assembly, etc. to help cheer on the Bulldogs to a win over the Baxter Lions!!!
