Miss Kansas Visits GHS & GMS Students

Miss Kansas 2018, Hannah Klaassen, visited Galena High School and Middle School students on Wednesday, February 6, to talk to students about the dangers of distracted driving.  The Miss Kansas organization has partnered with the Kansas Department of Transportation to spread the word across the state about "traffic safety issues."  Miss Kansas travels to schools that participate in the SAFE - Seatbelts Are For Everyone - program to help the schools get information out to their students about the dangers associated with texting and driving, as well as other distracted driving issues.  Ms. Klaassen also discussed her personal platform, The Mind Matters, with students during her presentation.  She emphasized that "mental health is just as important as physical health."  Her platform goal is to help students to know who they can turn to if they are struggling with issues they cannot handle on their own.

Thank you to Miss Kansas 2018, Hannah Klaassen, and KDOT for helping to educate our students on real life problems!!!
