Senior Girls Learn Self Defense Techniques

February 21, 2019

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Department recently visited Galena High School to teach the senior girls self defense techniques they can use to protect themselves in the future.  Sergeant Stephen Harper and Deputy Logan Cloyd demonstrated the techniques and then assisted the girls in practicing them so they would become more comfortable using them if they had to in the future.  The officers will continue training the senior girls in self defense techniques, as well as other ways they can keep themselves safe, during two more sessions this semester.  This is the second year the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department and GHS have partnered together to help teach students techniques they may need to keep themselves safe.  It is our hopes that this is a yearly activity that senior girls can participate in to help get them ready for possible situations that may occur as they continue their education.

A big thank you to Sergeant Harper, Deputy Cloyd, and the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department for helping to train our students to keep them safer in the future!!!
