GMS & GHS Students Attend Suicide Prevention Assembly
The month of September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Sadly, suicide is one of the leading causes of preventable death in our nation today. We lose an average of more than 113 young people each week to this tragedy that can be prevented. Students at Galena Middle School and Galena High School attended an assembly on September 10, National Suicide Prevention Day, to learn more information related to mental health, suicide, and resources that are available. Lynette Downing, the USD #499 school based social worker, presented the information to the students. If you have considered suicide or if you know of a person that has considered suicide, please use the resources listed below to get some help. It's ok not to be ok and it's ok to ask for help!
