GHS Connect Crews Participate in Health Fair
The Galena High School Connect Crews were able to participate in a mini Health Fair put on by various Cherokee County Health organizations recently. Christina Holmes, the Cherokee County Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent, presented to the students about the consequences of smoking or vaping. Betha Elliott and Teresa Robson from the Cherokee County Health Department discussed good hygiene, including washing hands, brushing teeth, etc. with the students. Julie Thomas, from the Cherokee County Extension Office, discussed nutrition and the My Plate program. Katherine Pinto, the Spring River Wellness director, reminded the students of the importance of physical activity. Lynette Downing, the school based therapist from the Spring River Mental Health office, discussed stress awareness and suicide prevention. These organizations also banned together to give door prizes to some lucky students!! Thank you so much to these ladies and organizations for taking time out of their busy days to meet with our students and hopefully help them to have a healthier lifestyle!!!
