King Zane & Queen Kaycee Crowned at Fall Homecoming
Juniors Zane Turner and Kaycee Rion were crowned as the 2022 Fall Homecoming King and Queen prior to the Galena Bulldog-Columbus Titan football game Friday night following the day's homecoming activities. The festivities started with a Homecoming Parade with former USD #499 Board President Mike Gibson serving as the Grand Marshall. The parade also included floats from each of the high school classes: seniors, juniors, sophomores, and freshmen. The freshmen class was the winner of the float competition. The parade ended with a pep assembly at Abbey Field.
Over 100 alumni checked into the Alumni Tent to earn a chance at winning a door prize and to get a free meal sponsored by the Galena High School Student Council. A huge Thank You to the following businesses for providing donations for the door prizes: Golden Corral, Galena Sonic Drive-In, Community Bank & Trust, Galena Sentinel-Times, Jeri's Salon, Sweet Creek Diner & Bakery, Oasis Car Wash Systems, The Learning Tree, Mi Torito, Galena Casey's, Schifferdecker Golf Course, Cafe Del Rio, Andy's Frozen Custard, Gravy's Place, and the Galena Board of Education.
Coronation took place prior to the football game. Candidates included: Seniors Xander Denton and Emma Smith, Juniors, Zane Turner and Kaycee Rion, Sophomores Hayden Qualls and Kimree Brown, and Freshmen Maddux Moss and Dakota Bennett. The new king and queen were crowned by 2021 Homecoming King Brett Sarwinski and Queen Alexandria Jordan.
The Bulldogs earned a 36-22 victory over the Titans to put the icing on the cake for the homecoming festivities!!!
